67 Chevelle Render

1967 Chevelle 3D render, Reed Casey 2010

Here's another model I created for my Production Modeling Class, I recorded some footage of its creation for podcasts. Note, the texture was created in Zbrush using Zapplink. However it was too "noisy" and I had to redraw the flames over again in photoshop using the "paths" tool, but at least the layout and placement of the flames was correct with no stretching. I used the Mental Ray car paint shader for the render. One map for the "base color" and another map for the "lit color", where I increased the blue value dramatically. This created an iridescent effect on the blues, or "ghost flame" effect. Also tweaked the "flake" settings heavily. Just used Bounce cards, area lights and FinalGather. Render time 44min at 1280x720.
