Here’s another model I created for my Production Modeling Class, I recorded some footage of its creation for podcasts.
Note, the texture was created in Zbrush using Zapplink. However it was too “noisy” and I had to redraw the flames over again in photoshop using the “paths” tool, but at least the layout and placement of the flames was correct with no stretching.
I used the Mental Ray car paint shader for the render. One map for the “base color” and another map for the “lit color”, where I increased the blue value dramatically. This created an iridescent effect on the blues, or “ghost flame” effect. Also tweaked the “flake” settings heavily.
Just used Bounce cards, area lights and FinalGather. Render time 44min at 1280×720.
Here is my second Character for the Cgtalk, “Tron” FX challenge. I threw together a little making of footage, this is about 6x speed and missing a couple parts I forgot to push the record button on.
a model for a project I am doing in collaboration with Kiel Figgins at 3dfiggins
The “N5″ model is based off of concept art by Justin Albers. seen here.
modeling credit is due in part to George Longo
Game character work in progress. After an unplanned two day “staycation” after buying Mass Effect 2, wanted to make a character that was something along those lines; but I stopped short of putting Cerberus logos on her. Can’t say enough good things about the art in that game. Inspiring.
Don’t have the patience or attention span for long video tutorials?
I use this Myspeed thing from Enounce. Great ap that lets you speed up flash based vids without the “chipmunk” effect on the audio. Costs a little money, but saves a ton of time.
